Today was a special edition "Retired Guys Beer Afternoon". With the NFL kicking off this week, we decided to make it an event with dinner and a location that usually doesn't open until after our usual 3:00 PM starting time. Hence, The Waterfront Restaurant just east of Lancaster. Even though it was my choice, I think it was a most excellent choice indeed.
Initially we were a little unsure of things as we would have liked to sit on the very nice deck, but it is "smoking allowed". Garry quickly found his way inside and retrieved me to a very inviting and comfortable inside non-smoking bar. This turned out to be a great decision as we were greeted by Bob the bartender and Chelsea, a friend of my daughter's, who both made us feel welcome. Chelsea even helped me make my dinner choice suggesting a secret menu item. It was delicious!
The menu at The Waterfront is not what I would call typical bar food, but all sounded great and our limited sampling proved that point. The tap selection was limited compared to many pubs these days; only seven handles with one being of the light genre. The range of beers was good enough that everyone should be able to find something to enjoyably wet their whistle.
I would definitely stop again because of the combination of atmosphere, quality of food and engagement by the staff to insure an enjoyable evening.
